GANGTOK, SEPT 2 (Bishnu Neopaney): Sikkim Brotherhood FC strengthened their position in the ongoing SFA A Division S-League 2026, registering an impressive 3–0 victory over Red Panda FC in Match No. 48 of the competition.
The result further intensifies the race at the top of the Senior Division league, with all participating clubs having now completed 10 rounds of their league fixtures. The ongoing campaign has produced a competitive contest for the leading positions, reflecting the growing depth and competitiveness of senior-level football in Sikkim.
Sikkim Aakraman SC currently occupy the top position in the league standings, with Sikkim Police Football Team following in second place. The latest victory has lifted Sikkim Brotherhood FC into third, while Sang Mustang FC and Red Panda FC occupy fourth and fifth positions respectively.
Against Red Panda FC, Brotherhood FC took control of the contest and broke the deadlock in the 35th minute when Akash Sundas found the back of the net.
Brotherhood maintained their momentum after the interval and doubled their advantage in the 68th minute through Shivum Kharga. Seven minutes later, Sonam Lepcha added a third to complete a convincing 3–0 victory.
The result is significant not only for Brotherhood FC's league position but also for the broader momentum of the SFA Senior Division competition. With clubs having completed 10 rounds, every remaining fixture carries increased importance as teams look to consolidate their positions and challenge for higher places in the standings.
The Sikkim Football Association (SFA) founded in 1976 to present continues to play a central role in providing a structured competitive platform for football clubs across the state since it was formed in 1979. Through the Senior Division league, the association is creating opportunities for players and clubs to compete regularly at a higher level while contributing to the development of the state's football ecosystem.
The SFA's continued organisation of league football forms an important part of its wider objective of strengthening the sport across Sikkim, while working within the applicable standards and frameworks of the Indian Football Association (IFA) and international football's governing principles and guidelines.
As the 2026 Senior Division campaign progresses, attention will now turn to the remaining rounds and the battle for supremacy at the top of the table. With Sikkim Aakraman SC leading, Sikkim Police FT in pursuit and Brotherhood FC moving into third following their latest win, the competition remains finely poised.
